WILMINGTON, DE -The Frederick Keys (18-16) and Wilmington Blue Rocks (15-20) went a collective 1-for-17 with runners in scoring position, however the Blue Crew managed a pair of runs in the fourth to earn a 2-1 victory on Friday night at Frawley Stadium. The Keys had chances to tie the game or take the lead in the seventh and ninth innings but could not break through.

The Frederick Keys struck first in the initial inning against Cristian Castillo. After Stevie Wilkerson singled, Ryan Mountcastle doubled to put a pair in scoring position. One batter later, Randolph Gassaway dunked a base hit to left to make it 1-0.

Cody Sedlock navigated around a two-out bases loaded jam in the second thanks to a strike out of Nate Esposito, but the home team managed a pair in the fourth. Following a single by Chris Devito, Sedlock (4-1) issued back-to-back walks to pack the bases.

The Keys starter managed a strikeout of Wander Franco and appeared to be out of the inning after Cody Jones grounded back to the mound, but Sedlock elected to go to second and got only one out. One batter later, a groundball by Esposito got under the glove of Ricardo Andujar at third to put Wilmington ahead 2-1.

Castillo (2-2) pitched into the seventh, retiring two of the first four he faced, before Wilmington manager, Jamie Quirk, made a pitching change. Calling on Yunior Marte, the Blue Rocks righty got Wilkerson to bounce out to keep the tying and go-ahead runs aboard.

In the ninth, Alex Murphy coaxed a walk from Marte before being retired on a fielder's choice. Replaced by Ademar Rifaela at first, Steve Laurino earned a free ride on a close pitch to once again put the tying and go-ahead runs aboard. Bearing down, Marte got Stuart Levy to pop up, while Drew Turbin was called out on strikes to end the game.

Castillo earned the win, tossing 6.2 innings of one-run baseball. He walked two and struck out six. Sedlock suffered the loss allowing two runs (one earned) across 5.1 innings. He walked four and struck out four. Marte picked up his second save, pitching the final 2.1 frames without giving up a run.

The Keys and Blue Rocks play the middle game of their series on Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. Right-hander Cristian Alvarado (2-2, 6.52) makes the start for the Keys and will be opposed by Blue Rocks right-hander Jared Ruxer (2-1, 3.45). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on MAX Country 93.5 FM/100.5 FM, frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.
