FREDERICK, MD -The Frederick Keys are excited to announce that Orioles first baseman, Chris Davis , is scheduled to join the team on a Major League rehab assignment on Monday, when the Keys face the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at 2 p.m. It marks the first time Davis has played in Frederick, while he would be the third member of the Orioles to suit up for Keys in 2017, joining Chris Tillman and Zach Britton .

Davis, 31, has been on the disabled list with a right oblique strain (retroactive to June 13). In 61 games with the Orioles this season, he is batting .226 with 14 home runs, 26 RBIs, one triple, seven doubles and 34 runs scored. He has not played in a game since June 12 against the White Sox.

Monday is slated to be Davis' first time on an MLB rehab assignment since May 2014, when the first baseman was recovering from a left oblique strain. That season he suited up for the Double-A Bowie Baysox.

Playing 157 games for the Orioles in 2016, Davis hit .221 with 38 home runs and 184 RBIs to go with 21 doubles and 99 runs scored. That season he was named an American League All-Star and claimed his first Silver Slugger Award.

For Davis, this will mark his first time playing for an Advanced-A team since 2007, when he suited up for Bakersfield as a member of the Texas Rangers organization. Named the organization's Tom Grieve Minor League Player of the Year, Davis hit .298 in 99 games with 24 home runs and 93 RBIs. He also registered a 35-game hitting streak, tying a California League record.
