Former Keys General Manager Joe Preseren Passes Away
Longtime Sports Executive Spent Time in Frederick and Salem

FREDERICK, MD -Joe Preseren, a former general manager of the Frederick Keys organization passed away on Wednesday night. He was 58 years old. Preseren served as the team's general manager in the late 90s and also did two stints as the general manager for Salem.
"On behalf of the Frederick Keys organization, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Joe's family and friends," said Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis. "Joe was a wonderful person who did a great job leading this organization during his time here. He will be missed."
Preseren enjoyed a wide-ranging career in sports. A 1980 graduate of Baldwin Wallace College, Preseren began his tenure in pro sports as an intern with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He eventually rose to the role of general manager with Frederick, Salem and Tulsa.
With the Keys, Preseren was the Calvin Falwell Executive of the Year in 1999. He was also the Texas League Executive of the Year in 1987 and 1993 and was recognized as the Minor League Executive of the Year in 1990 by The Sporting News. The Drillers observed a moment of silence for Preseren before their home opener against the Midland RockHounds on Thursday.
