FREDERICK, MD -The Frederick Keys are excited to announce that Austin Hays has been named the Carolina League player of the week for June 5-11. This marks the second time he has won the award this year, and the third time a Keys player has won a weekly award.
Recently named a starter for the Carolina League North all-star team, Hays, 21, batted .400 (10-25) with two home runs, a double, five RBIs, and three runs scored. He had four multi-hit efforts over the seven games, including a three-hit game on June 6 against Potomac.
The outfielder previously won the award for the week of May 15-21, when he hit .438 (14-32) with two home runs, six doubles, and six RBIs. He went 4-for-6 with three RBIs in the game on May 18.
