Jarred Kelenic Promoted to Kingsport

KINGSPORT, Tenn.- The Kingsport Mets announced Tuesday that New York Mets prospect Jarred Kelenic has been promoted from the Gulf Coast League (GCL) Mets to Kingsport.
Kelenic is the Mets' 2018 first-round draft pick and pick number six overall in the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
A native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Kelenic hit .413 with a .451 on-base percentage and .609 slugging percentage in his first 12 professional games in the GCL. He also tallied a home run and nine RBIs.
Kelenic is an outfielder and played all 77 of his GCL defensive innings in center field, committing just one error.
Kelenic arrived in Kingsport Monday and will be activated Tuesday, making him eligible for Kingsport's series against Greeneville.
