Kingsport, TN --  The K Mets displayed it all in perhaps their most complete win of the season, as they knocked off the Rays 11-1 in the opener of the home stand.
First of all, the pitching was excellent for Kingsport throughout the evening. Starter Michel Otanez scattered three singles over 5.2 innings, allowing just one run.
A quartet of Mets hurlers came out of the pen to get the final 10 outs. Hector Rodriguez, Nate Peden, Yeudy Colon, and Josh Hejka combined to allow just one single and no runs.
Secondly, the defense was sparkling all night. The lone error came on a throwing error with two-outs in the ninth, which was quickly made moot as Hejka was able to retire the next Ray hitter.
And finally, the offense had a breakout evening, with 12 hits, 11 runs, and two homeruns.
Andres Regnault delivered the first big blow of the night, with a second inning two-run homer to right to give Kingsport a 3-1 lead.
After a pair of sac flies by Jaylen Palmer and Cole Kleszcz, Regnault delivered again in the fifth with an RBI-single to give Kingsport a 6-1 advantage. Regnault finished 3-5 with three RBIs.
Kingsport put the game away in the sixth with a five-run onslaught. Scott Ota got the party started with a two-run shot to right-center. Then Francisco Alvarez and the aforementioned Kleszcz followed with RBI-singles, with the inning capped by a Cristopher Pujols sac fly.
The series with the Rays continues tomorrow evening at 6:30. It's Dollar Thursday, Park the Park Against Polio Night, and Scout Night. Visit kmets.com for more info.
