Kingsport, TN - It was a tale of three games for the K Mets Thursday evening at Hunter Wright Stadium.
The first game saw the Mets take a 5-0 lead after the first three frames.
In the first three innings it was the Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty show. Alvarez and Baty went back-to-back in the first, both to the opposite field to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.
Then, in the third Baty would double in Alvarez who had walked to give Kingsport a 4-0 lead. Baty would later come around on an RBI-single by Wilfred Astudillo to balloon the lead to five.
The second game however wasn't as friendly to the home crowd. The Mets gave up five unearned runs in the fourth inning, and then gave up another unearned tally in the sixth to allow the Rays to take a 6-5 lead.
Kingsport would then get off the mat in the later innings, scoring a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to stun the Rays 8-6.
After tying the game in the seventh on a passed ball, Kingsport would get the game winner in the form of a two-run triple by Jhoander Saez. Saez had perhaps his best game in a Kingsport uniform, going 2-3, with three RBIs.
Lost in the shuffle was the excellent pitching by starter Junior Santos, who fired three scoreless frames while striking out four.
Jefferson Escorcha picked up the win throwing three innings, allowing just one unearned run, while Reyson Santos earned his fourth save of the season.
The series with the Rays concludes tomorrow evening at 6:30. It's Fireworks Friday, sponsored by Ingles. Fans are encouraged to stay after the game for a postgame fireworks extravaganza.
