Charlotte 49ers Returning to BB&T Ballpark
(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Collegiate baseball will once again return to Uptown Charlotte as the Charlotte 49ers will play three games at BB&T Ballpark in 2018. (UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Collegiate baseball will once again return to Uptown Charlotte as the Charlotte 49ers will play three games at BB&T Ballpark in 2018. The 49ers will play the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Tuesday, March 13th, the Arkansas Razorbacks on Tuesday, March 20th, and the North Carolina Tar Heels on Tuesday, March 27th. Gates for all three games will open at 6:00 p.m. and first pitch of each game is on tap for 7:05 p.m. from the home of the Charlotte Knights.
"We are very pleased to once again welcome the Charlotte 49ers to BB&T Ballpark," stated Charlotte Knights Chief Operating Officer, Dan Rajkowski. "Our fans have really enjoyed coming out to BB&T Ballpark over the years to watch college baseball and the 49ers have been a great partner to the Knights over the years. We look forward to welcoming Coach Hibbs, his staff, and players to Uptown Charlotte for a fourth consecutive season in 2018."
The Charlotte 49ers played the first-ever collegiate baseball game in BB&T Ballpark history. On March 31st, 2015, the 49ers faced the N.C. State Wolfpack in front of 8,147 fans at BB&T Ballpark. Since then, the 49ers have played a total of six games at BB&T Ballpark from 2015-2017.
"Thanks to Dan (Rajkowski) and all of the Knights staff for providing us this tremendous opportunity again in 2018," stated 49ers Head Baseball Coach, Loren Hibbs. "Our program has been a leader in bringing college baseball games to BB&T Ballpark and the working relationship we have with the Knights has allowed for tremendous growth and opportunity. Everything the Knights do as an organization is first class and we have some great games lined up for this year."
