Knights Win 4-3 on Walk Off Wild Pitch in 13th

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Jacob May raced home from third base on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 13th inning to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 4-3 walk-off win over the Louisville Bats on Wednesday from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The win for the Knights evened

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Jacob May raced home from third base on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 13th inning to lead the Charlotte Knights to a 4-3 walk-off win over the Louisville Bats on Wednesday from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The win for the Knights evened up the series at one game apiece. The two teams will play the finale at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

May ignited the 13th inning rally with a leadoff walk against Louisville LHP Ismael Guillòn (0-2, 9.39), who was saddled with the loss. After the leadoff walk, May moved into scoring position as he swiped second base with Nicky Delmonico at the plate. Delmonico moved May over to third base on a groundout. Rymer Liriano then stepped to the plate and the rest was history as Guillon threw a wild pitch to end the game.

Outfielder Jason Bourgeois continued his hot hitting and led the way with three hits. He finished the game 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Yoán Moncada reached base four times on the night and finished the game 2-for-5 with two walks and a double.

Charlotte RHP Jake Dunning (2-0, 4.26) earned the win after he tossed three scoreless innings. He allowed just one run and struck out three batters. LHP Will Lamb started the game and gave up two runs on three hits over five innings. In all, five pitchers combined to throw 13 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits.

Wednesday's game lasted four hours and 15 minutes.

The Knights and Bats will conclude their three-game series on Thursday with first pitch on tap for 7:05 p.m. The Knights will send RHP Carson Fulmer to the mound against Louisville RHP Robert Stephenson.
