(EASTLAKE, OH) - The Lake County Captains (58-45) have now won six consecutive games after taking down the Fort Wayne TinCaps (44-61) by a score of 6-1 on a beautiful Thursday night at Classic Park.

The Captains would kick off the scoring in the second inning with an Aaron Bracho RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.

Doug Nikhazy put together a masterful performance. He finished his day by going 6.2 innings, only allowing one run on four hits. The 2021 second-rounder also set ten TinCaps down on strikes. The lone run allowed by Nikhazy was a solo shot by Jarryd Dale in the third inning.

Lake County would immediately respond in the bottom of third inning. Johnathan Rodriguez mashed a two-out RBI double to take a 2-1 lead. Immediately after that hit, Alexfri Planez would strike out, a dropped third strike that the TinCaps were unaware of. Fort Wayne would move the ball out of play following the strikeout, which allowed Johnathan Rodriguez to score and Planez to advance to second base. Captains take a 3-1 lead on the play.

In the seventh inning, Alexfri Planez would come to the plate following a two-out walk and single. Planez would take the seventh pitch of his at-bat far beyond the left field bleachers to put Lake County up 6-1. The Captains have hit a home run in 11 straight games.

Davis Sharpe, who came in to relieve Nikhazy, pitched 1.1 innings scoreless. Trey Benton would close the game in the ninth, only issuing a walk before recording the final out of the ballgame.

These two teams will face off tomorrow Friday August 12, with the first pitch at 6:35 pm. In addition, there will be Friday Night Fireworks presented by Meijer after the game's conclusion.
