(Eastlake, OH) – The Lake County Captains (54-48) got three hits, including a solo home run from MLB rehabber Harold Ramirez but fell 9-2 to the Great Lakes Loons (55-47) on Sunday afternoon at Classic Park.

Micah Pries opened the bottom of the second inning with a no doubt solo home run to right field to put the Captain in front 1-0.

The Loons mashed their way into the lad in the fourth. After Mason Hickman hit Andy Pages with a pitch to start the inning, Brandon Lewis hit a two-run homer off the left field foul pole to give the Loons a 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Eddys Leonard hit a solo shot to right-center to make it 3-1.

A two-out error helped Great Lakes tack on insurance in the fifth. With two outs and the bases empty, second baseman Christian Cairo dropped a pop up to put a man on second. Lewis then drove home Pages with an RBI single, stole second and scored on a single by Jorbit Vivas. Leonard came up next and launched his second homer in as many innings. The two-run shot over the left field bleachers gave Great Lakes a 7-1 lead.

Ramírez launched a solo shot in the fifth. In the fourth game of his major league rehab assignment with the Captains, Ramírez crushed a pitch from Jesus Vargas over the left field bleachers to cut the Loons’ lead to 7-2.

In the eighth inning Ryan January drew a one out walk for the Loons. He advanced to second on a Ryan Ward groundout. With a runner on second and two outs Pages connected on a home run to left center to extend the Loons lead to 9-2.

With one out in the top of the ninth Leonard connected again for his third home run of the day with a solo shot to dead center field.

Jose Hernandez (1-1) received the win. He struck out two over 1.1 innings with one hit allowed.

Hickman (7-7) took the loss for the Captains. He allowed seven runs over five innings but just three were earned. He did not issue a walk and struck out nine.

Lake County travels to South Bend for a six game series beginning on Tuesday. First pitch between the Captains and Cubs is set for 7:05 at Four Winds Field.
