Reed Representing at the Futures Game

"It's an honor and a blessing and I'm happy to represent the San Diego Padres," said Reed. "My parents are coming. I just want them there. They're the most important people in my life and it'll be awesome to see them there."
After being selected by the San Diego Padres in the second round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft in 2016 out of the University of Florida, Reed had spent his first two professional seasons with Tri-City and Fort Wayne before breakthrough campaign this season in Lake Elsinore.
Through just 77 games in the California League, the Bronx, NY native and former prep hockey standout has set new career highs in several offensive categories, including runs (51), hits (98), total bases (162), doubles (21), home runs (11), RBIs (45), walks (24), stolen bases (33), average (.319), on-base percentage (.368) and slugging percentage (.528).
Reed was named California League Player of the Month in April and was a California League All-Star selection, where he batted leadoff for the South Division.
He will be joined by fellow Padres prospects

Urias was named California League MVP in 2016 after hitting .330 with 36 extra-base hits and 52 RBIs in 120 games with the Lake Elsinore Storm. He is considered the Padres No. 3 ranked prospect and the No. 29 prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Tatis Jr. is considered the top prospect in the Padres system and the No. 3 prospect in baseball.
