BURLINGTON, VT --- Six Lake Monsters have been chosen to represent Vermont in the 2017 New York-Penn League All-Star Game taking place at Tri-City on Tuesday, August 15th, the New York-Penn League announced today with the release of the full rosters.
Outfielder Greg Deichmann , catcher Jordan Devencenzi , infielder Ryan Gridley , along with pitchers Parker Dunshee , Branden Kelliher and Jean Ruiz will be members of the North All-Star Team, along with players from Auburn, Batavia, Connecticut, Hudson Valley, Lowell and Tri-City.
Heading into the August 8th series opener with Batavia, Deichmann was hitting .321 wit 14 runs, seven doubles, three triples, two homers and 13 RBI. The 2017 second-round pick out of LSU had hit safely in 17 of his 22 games played with Vermont including seven two-hit games. Devencenzi was hitting .274 with 13 runs, three doubles and 12 RBI in 33 games. Gridley was hitting 276 with 17 runs, seven doubles and 13 RBI in 33 games, which included a nine-game hitting streak in early July.
Dunshee has yet to allow a run in eight games (six starts) with the Lake Monsters this season. A seventh-round pick out of Wake Forest, Dunshee has allowed just 11 hits with six walks and 27 strikeouts over 24 scoreless innings. Kelliher was 2-1 with three saves and a 2.11 ERA, allowing five runs on 13 hits with 16 walks and 17 strikeouts over 21 1/3 innings. Ruiz has a 1.61 ERA in 10 appearances (four starts), giving up six runs (five earned) on 19 hits with six walks and 25 strikeouts over his first 28 innings.
The 2017 All-Star Game will be played at Bruno Stadium in Troy, New York, home of the Tri-City ValleyCats, on August 15th.
