Spenser Watkins threw six strong innings Wednesday night and Dylan Burdeaux knocked an RBI single Thursday morning, but Jupiter scored two runs in the ninth to hand Lakeland a 4-3 loss.

Spenser Watkins threw six strong innings Wednesday night and Dylan Burdeaux knocked an RBI single Thursday morning, but Jupiter scored two runs in the ninth to hand Lakeland a 4-3 loss.

Jupiter jumped on the board in the first inning, scoring two quick runs against Watkins. The Flying Tigers responded in the fourth with two runs of their own behind a Troy Montgomer RBI double and an Anthony Pereira RBI groundout. With a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning, heavy rains and lightning suspended the contest until the following day.
The back-and-forth affair continues when play resumed Thursday morning. Both teams went down quietly in the seventh, but an RBI single from Burdeaux gave the Flying Tigers a 3-2 lead. Eduardo Jiménez, the Florida State League-leader in saves, entered to pitch the ninth bit could not vanquish the Hammerheads, allowing two runs to earn the loss.
