Flying Tigers win fourth in a row, defeat Jupiter 3-1

The Flying Tigers defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 3-1 Tuesday night behind Daz Cameron's third career four-hit game and a gutsy pitching performance from Gregory Soto.

The Flying Tigers loaded the bases in the first with back-to-back singles from Cam Gibson and Daz Cameron and a two-out walk to Troy Montgomery, but a flyout from Anthony Pereira ended the scoring threat.In the third inning with the game still scoreless, Cameron rocketed a ball into the right-centerfield gap and raced around the bases for his third triple of the season. A Danny Pinero grounder scored Cameron to give the Flying Tigers a 1-0 lead.
Back-to-back RBI singles from Derek Hill and Cam Gibson in the fourth pushed the lead to three, which proved to be more than enough run support for Gregory Soto. Soto battled through 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing ten Hammerheads to reach base while throwing a season-high 100 pitches.
The relief combo of Evan Hill, Wladimir Pinto, and Fernando Perez successfully bridged the gap to closer Eduardo Jiménez, who pitched a perfect ninth inning for his league-leading 11th save of the year.
Despite the win, the Flying Tigers drop to a half-game back of the Daytona Tortugas in the race for first place in the North Division due to a doubleheader sweep by Daytona over St. Lucie. Six games remain in the first half with a playoff berth on the line.
