As part of our commitment to fan safety, the Detroit Tigers and Lakeland Flying Tigers make it a priority to create a safe and secure environment at Publix Field. In 2018, the Tigers will introduce state-of-the-art upgrades and extensions to the protective netting system.

As the Detroit Tigers enter our 82nd season of Spring Training baseball here in Lakeland, we want to share with you an important upgrade and enhancement to Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium that will be in place for all games played at the ballpark this year.

As part of our commitment to fan safety, the Detroit Tigers and Lakeland Flying Tigers make it a priority to create a safe and secure environment at Publix Field. In 2018, the Tigers will introduce state-of-the-art upgrades and extensions to the protective netting system.

These netting enhancements, extending from sections 100-115, will place Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium among the best facilities in terms of fan safety not only in the Minor Leagues, but across all of baseball.

Additional improvement comes in the type of netting featured at Publix Field. All netting, whether being replaced from previous years or newly installed for 2018, will be some of the thinnest and strongest used in ballparks worldwide. The existing netting had a width of 2.16mm, while the new material measures in at just 1.2mm. This netting provides for maximum spectator visibility and safety.

These enhancements result in both significantly improved sightlines for those seats previously behind netting, and they provide unobtrusive safety for those further down the baselines.

All of us in the Tigers organization take pride in providing the greatest value of family entertainment in Lakeland. Call the Flying Tigers Box Office at (863) 686-8075 if you have any questions regarding these ballpark updates.

We greatly appreciate your support, and look forward to seeing you at the ballpark this season.
