LAKEWOOD, NJ - Three straight RBI singles in the sixth inning, with the go-ahead single from Luke Miller, gave the BlueClaws a 4-3 win over Greensboro on Sunday at FirstEnergy Park.
The BlueClaws (24-39) took three of five in the series from the Grasshoppers (40-23) and 6-2 on their eight-game homestand.
Trailing 2-0, the BlueClaws erupted for three runs in the sixth inning, all with two outs. After Jonathan Guzman singled and Rafael Marchan walked, the BlueClaws had three straight RBI singles. The first came from Luis Garcia, who was followed by Abrahan Gutierrez and Luke Miller to give Lakewood a 3-2 lead.
All three runs were charged to Stephen Jennings (4-6), who took the loss.
Jonathan Guzman added an RBI single for the BlueClaws in the seventh. Guzman had four straight multi-games to finish off the homestand with nine combined hits in the games. He is hitting .342 since May 18th.
Greensboro scored an unearned in the eighth off Ethan Lindow to the cut the lead to 4-3, but Lindow threw a scoreless ninth to earn the win and improve to 2-2.
BlueClaws starter Manuel Silva gave up one run over four innings of work. Ismael Cabrera threw a scoreless fifth.
Guzman and Gutierrez each had two hits in the win.
The BlueClaws send RHP Tyler McKay to the mound on Monday in the series opener at Hagerstown.
