LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws scored three times in the bottom of the sixth, taking the lead on an RBI single from Hunter Stovall, and came back to top Hagerstown 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.
Lakewood (13-24) has now won back to back games from the Suns (17-21) to start this series.
The BlueClaws took the lead off Tim Cate with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Jack Conley's RBI double tied the game and Hunter Stovall's RBI single put the BlueClaws up 3-2.
Tyler Carr (2-1), who threw 2.1 scoreless innings in relief, earned the win. Oscar Marcelino threw a scoreless ninth inning to earn his second save.
Cate (3-3) came out after six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits.
Hagerstown got two runs in the third inning to take the lead. Trey Vickers drove in Juan Pascal with an RBI single and Gilber Lara added an RBI single later in the inning to score Vickers.
BlueClaws starter Tyler McKay gave up two runs over four innings while striking out seven.
Conley had two hits for the BlueClaws.
The teams finish their three-game series on Thursday night at 6:35 pm. RHP Dominic Pipkin starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Jake Irvin.
