LAKEWOOD, NJ - Lakewood took a 2-0 lead in the first inning but Hagerstown rallied for a 4-2 win over the BlueClaws on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.
The Suns (7-14/37-54) take the first of three with the BlueClaws (7-13/36-54) though the BlueClaws have won 10 of the 16 meetings thus far.
Lakewood jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an opposite field home run over the right-centerfield wall. It was De La Cruz's second home run of the season and first since May 6th.
The Suns came back getting a run in the second on a groundout by Trey Vickers. In the fourth, they took the lead. Cole Daily's RBI single leveled the score and Jackson Cluff's SAC fly gave the Suns the lead. BlueClaws starter Tyler McKay gave up three runs, two earned, over 3.1 innings of work.
Hagerstown added a run in the sixth off Rafi Gonell. Kyle Marinconz tripled to start the inning and came in on an RBI single from Cole Daily.
Suns starter Jake Irvin (5-6) earned the win, allowing two runs over six innings of work. Chandler Day threw two scoreless innings and Jacob Howell threw a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save of the season. 
Rafi Gonell gave up one run in four innings of work for Lakewood. 
Kyle Marinconz and Cole Daily each had three hits for the Suns. 
The BlueClaws and Suns continue their series on Saturday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Dominic Pipkin (3-2) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Reid Schaller (0-1).
