LAKEWOOD, NJ - Matt Kroon hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the BlueClaws a 4-3 win over Hagerstown on Tuesday night at FirstEnergy Park.
Kroon's home run, his first of the season and third of his career, came off Suns reliever Ryan Tapani with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, giving Lakewood their first lead and snapping a three-game skid. Gilmael Troya came on in the ninth and got Justin Connell to fly out to centerfield to end the game.
Kyle Glogoski (2-1) earned the win, allowing one run in 3.2 innings for the BlueClaws (12-24). Hagerstown (17-20) got on the board in the first inning with Gilbert Lara, who had doubled, scoring on a passed ball to give the Suns a 1-0 lead.
In the third, a Scott Kingery error gave Jacob Rhinesmith a chance and he doubled home Trey Vickers to put the Suns up 2-0.
Lakewood got a fourth inning SAC fly from Abrahan Gutierrez to get on the board.
BlueClaws starter Ethan Lindow gave up two unearned runs over five innings. The left-hander from Locust Grove, Georgia struck out eight, setting a new season high and one off his career high of nine set twice last year.
Kingery, rehabbing with Lakewood, went 1-3 in the loss. Carlos De La Cruz had two hits in three at bats. Hagerstown starter Joan Adon gave up one run on two hits over five innings of work.
