LAKEWOOD, NJ - Matthew DeRosier gave up one run over six innings to lead Hagerstown to a 2-1 win over the BlueClaws on Wednesday afternoon at FirstEnergy Park.
The Suns (16-27) and BlueClaws (23-20) have now split the first two games of their four-game series.
Jake Scheiner opened the scoring with a first-inning home run for the BlueClaws. Scheiner's home run was his sixth of the year and his second leading off a game for the BlueClaws this year. It was the only run the BlueClaws got off DeRosier (2-1) in his six innings of work.
BlueClaws starter Ramon Rosso didn't allow a run over his first three innings but the Suns got three in the fourth. They tied the game on an Anderson Franco RBI double. Jake Scudder gave Hagerstown the lead with an RBI single and a third run scored on a wild pitch.
Rosso (1-1) came out after allowing three runs in 5.1 innings, the first time all year he's allowed more than one earned run.
The BlueClaws got an RBI single from Colby Fitch in the seventh inning to pull within 3-2, but were shut down over the last two innings by Carlos Acevedo, who earned his first save of the season.
The two teams will play a double-header on Thursday night beginning at 5:05 pm. LHP Will Stewart (4-0) will start the opener for the BlueClaws.
