LANCASTER, Calif. - It was a historic night at The Hangar, but it was the visitors that stole the show Wednesday. San Jose beat the JetHawks, 18-6, behind 25 hits and a pair of cycles in the finale.
San Jose (4-3) got at least one hit and a run scored from every player in the lineup. Gio Brusa and Jalen Miller each hit for the cycle. Brusa completed the feat with a triple in the eighth inning, and Miller promptly followed with a triple in the ninth. Each of the last six cycles in the California League have come at Lancaster's expense.
Matt Dennis (0-2) went just two innings in his second start of the season. San Jose scored four in the first inning and five in the second to take a commanding lead early. Lancaster (4-3) used four relievers behind Dennis.
Logan Webb allowed just an unearned run over three innings for the Giants, but was not eligible for the victory. DJ Myers (1-0) picked up the win with five solid innings in relief.
Joel Diaz and Vince Fernandez each went yard for the JetHawks in defeat. Fernandez extended his hitting streak to six games with an eighth-inning shot.
The JetHawks hit the road for the first time in 2018 Thursday, kicking off of four-game series in Lake Elsinore. Trey Killian (0-0) takes the hill for Lancaster in the series opener. First pitch from the Diamond is at 7:00 pm.
