Fernandez, playing near his hometown of Livermore, tripled to put Lancaster on the board in the first inning and homered to help his club claw back to a tie in the sixth inning. But the left fielder's final contribution with the bat, a sacrifice bunt, led directly to Lancaster's game-winning run in the eighth inning.

Fernandez had started the scoring for Lancaster (17-19) with a two-run triple in the first inning.
The Giants (21-15) responded with two runs in the bottom of the second and three more in the third. Their final run scored on a Culbreth wild pitch in the fourth.
