Skid extends to four with loss in Elsinore

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. - For the second-consecutive day the JetHawks were held to one run in a 4-1 loss to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Wednesday night at The Diamond.
The loss pushed Lancaster's losing streak to four games, tying a season-high, and dropped them to 22-24 and out of first place in the South Division. They will enter tomorrow's action a game behind Inland Empire.
Ty Culbreth (1-1) started strong by retiring the first six batters of the game on only 15 pitches, but he ran into trouble in the third inning. Brad Zunica hit a leadoff home run, and the next three batters reached on two singles and a walk. Eguy Rosario hit a sac-fly to give Lake Elsinore (21-25) a 2-0 lead.
The JetHawks didn't manage much at the plate against Storm starter Michel Baez (1-4). The Cuba native picked up his first win by going a season-high six innings and allowing just four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.
Culbreth allowed two more runs, one of them unearned, in the seventh inning. He allowed four runs, three earned, over a season-high 6.1 innings.
Forrest Wall reached third base on a dropped fly ball in the eighth inning and scored on an Alan Trejo base-hit. Trejo has put up three hits in each of the first two games of the series.
The series and road trip conclude on Thursday. Matt Dennis (3-6) is scheduled to start for Lancaster opposite Chris Paddack (0-0). First pitch is 7 p.m.
