IronPigs left-hander Cole Irvin has been named the International League Pitcher of the Week, as announced by league officials today. Irvin, who previously won the award on May 14, becomes just the second IronPigs pitcher all-time to earn this honor twice in the same season (RHP Justin Lehr, 2009) and the third to do so in a Lehigh Valley career (LHP Greg Smith, 2013-14).

The 24-year-old also becomes the second IronPigs player to earn two weekly honors this season after Joey Meneses was named IL Batter of the Week on both May 7 and May 21.
For the week of June 4-10, Irvin finished 2-0 with a 2.07 ERA in a pair of starts. Over 13 innings, he allowed just 10 hits, three earned runs and three walks while registering 11 strikeouts. The former fifth-rounder took a shutout into the sixth inning in both a 4-3 victory at Gwinnett on May 5 as well as in a 6-2 win at Charlotte on May 10.
With his most recent victory, Irvin snapped a tie with RHP Nick Pivetta to set a franchise record by winning seven-consecutive starts -- going 7-0, with a 1.51 ERA (47.2 IP, 8 ER) since May 7. In addition, he tied a franchise record by winning his eighth-straight decision, which was set by RHP Tyler Cloyd in 2012 and tied by RHP Jake Thompson in 2016. Since April 27, the Anaheim native is 8-0, 1.93 (60.2 IP, 13 ER) in his last nine starts -- and the IronPigs scored a win in all nine contests.
Irvin currently leads the IL with eight wins this season -- a total that is tied for second in all of Minor League Baseball and one shy of the mark held by Jordan Romano of New Hampshire (AA). The southpaw also paces the IL in innings pitched (75.2) while ranking fourth in WHIP (1.03) and fifth in both ERA (2.62) and strikeouts (66).
Drafted out of University of Oregon in the fifth round of 2016, Irvin had only appeared in 35 games (31 starts) during his professional career prior to making his Triple-A debut with the IronPigs this season.
All-time, there have been 15 other IronPigs to receive this honor: Lehr (2x: 4/19/09, 5/10/09), Nelson Figueroa (6/14/10), Brian Gordon (5/16/11), Tyler Cloyd (4/9/12), Scott Elarton (5/7/12), Adam Morgan (2x: 4/15/13, 8/7/16), Ethan Martin (7/1/13), Smith (2x: 7/22/13, 4/20/14), Brad Lincoln (6/8/14), Jesse Biddle (7/19/15), Jerad Eickhoff (8/9/15), Zach Eflin (4/17/16), Ben Lively (2x: 6/12/16, 9/5/16), David Buchanan (7/24/16), and Phil Klein (8/14/16).
