Crawford Homers, But Pigs Fall 4-1

J.P. Crawford hit a solo home run, however, Brandon Snyder hit a solo home of his own as the Syracuse Chiefs (53-83) defeated the IronPigs (74-62) by the score of 4-1 Wednesday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Snyder gave the Chiefs an early 1-0 advantage with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning off Pigs starter Jake Thompson. For Snyder, it was his fifth home run of the year off the Pigs and his 23rd homer of the year.
Syracuse added their second run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Andrew Stevenson scored on a wild pitch to up the Chiefs lead to 2-0.
The Chiefs then added a pair in the bottom of the seventh inning to double their lead to 4-0. Rafael Bautista sent a two-out RBI single to left field, scoring both runners who were running on the pitch.
Thompson finished his night after the seventh inning, surrendering four runs (two earned) while striking out five batters and was tabbed with the loss.
The Pigs lone run of the game came off the Crawford solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to avoid the shutout. It was the 23-year-olds 14th homer of the year, a career-high for the Phillies top prospect.
Andrew Pullin went 2-for-3 with a double as he had two of the Pigs three hits on the night.
The series continues with game three of the four-game set Wednesday night NBT Bank Stadium. The Pigs will send right-hander Henderson Alvarez III (0-0, 3.60), and the Chiefs will send right-hander A.J. Cole (4-4, 5.82). First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
