Williams breaks record, Pigs walk off

Nick Williams sets record for 24 straight games with a hit

Follow @IronPigsThe Lehigh Valley IronPigs (42-42) beat the Pawtucket Red Sox (33-51) 3-2 in 11 innings Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. Shane Robinson hit a walk-off sacrifice fly against Bobby Poyner (2-3) to score Andrew Romine and win the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. 


The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (42-42) beat the Pawtucket Red Sox (33-51) 3-2 in 11 innings Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. Shane Robinson hit a walk-off sacrifice fly against Bobby Poyner (2-3) to score Andrew Romine and win the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. 

Both teams scored a run in the third inning. Rusney Castillo hit an RBI single off Ramon Rosso to score Gorkys Hernández and Adam Haseley scored on a sacrifice fly by Robinson. Rosso allowed just one run through 5 1/3 innings. Konnor Wade allowed just one run in five innings in his triple-A debut.  
Nick Williams extended his hitting streak to 24 games by hitting a single off Wade in the bottom of the third inning. He bypassed former IronPig Scott Kingery, who had the record (23) in 2017.  
Pawtucket got a run in the top of the 11th inning as Hernandez scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Owings. Williams tied the game in the bottom of the 11th inning by hitting an RBI double.  
Tyler Gilbert tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings and Edubray Ramos pitched two scoreless innings in relief. Kyle Dohy earned the win by pitching two scoreless innings in extra innings.  
The IronPigs were 2-for-21 with runners in scoring position and left a team-record 18 runners on-base. Lehigh Valley plays for a series-win over Pawtucket on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
