Pigs fall despite Straily's strong start

Follow @IronPigsThe Lehigh Valley IronPigs (56-63) got a good start out of Dan Straily (4-2) despite losing 2-1 to the Louisville Bats (52-69) on Wednesday night. The Pigs were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine players on the base paths.


The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (56-63) got a good start out of Dan Straily (4-2) despite losing 2-1 to the Louisville Bats (52-69) on Wednesday night. The Pigs were 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left nine players on the base paths.

The Bats got both runs off Straily in the bottom of the third inning. Jesús Reyes homered, and Rob Refsnyder hit an RBI single to score Alfredo Rodriguez. Straily allowed both runs over six innings off six hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
Connor Brogdon and Edgar Garcia each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
Reyes (1-4) struck out five batters over six innings without allowing a run. R.J. Alaniz earned his fourth save of the season for the Bats, despite giving up a home run to Jose Pirela in the top of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs look to avoid a sweep on Thursday evening when they wrap up their season series against the Bats. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
