The two-day celebration includes special jerseys, caps and in-park activities
March 20, 2018

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will host a two-night Hispanic Heritage Celebration presented by Mega 99.5 this May at Coca-Cola Park.

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will host a two-night Hispanic Heritage Celebration presented by Mega 99.5 this May at Coca-Cola Park.

For their May 23 and 24 contests vs. Rochester, the Pigs will wear "Tocino" (Spanish for "bacon") caps and jerseys. The caps will be raffled with fans getting the chance to pick up raffle tickets at either contest. Bids in the jersey auction presented by Tito's Vodka will also be accepted during both contests.
Winners of both the cap raffles and jersey auctions will be announced following the May 24 contest.
The jersey, which has a white base with blue sleeves and red accents, features the word "Tocino" in bacon-filled letters across the chest. The numbers on the back are also made with the same bacon pattern and a blue outline. The cap includes the same "Tocino" script and features alternating white and red panels with a blue bill.
A limited number of replica "Tocino" caps are available for pre-order at the Majestic Clubhouse Store. Each cap, priced at $20, can be picked up during the May 23-24 Hispanic Heritage celebration. You may pre-order the cap here.
The IronPigs' Hispanic Heritage Celebration is part of Minor League Baseball's season-long campaign to better embrace the culture of each team's local Hispanic/Latino communities. The Pigs' celebration will include Hispanic-themed music, entertainment and food options. Rice, bean and chicken platters will be available on the concourse, as well as pastelillos and other items to be announced later this spring.
The IronPigs are one of 33 minor league teams sporting Hispanic Heritage caps and jerseys this season. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly one-quarter of the Lehigh Valley's population identifies as Hispanic or Latino.
Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit the Fe Foundation, which delivers educational and community development programs of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley. Cap raffle proceeds will benefit IronPigs Charities, which provides educational and recreational opportunities for Lehigh Valley youth.
"Funds from this jersey auction will support the 'Futuros Empresarios' (Future Entrepreneurs) Program," said Myra Pina, Executive Director of the Fe Foundation. "Futuros Empresarios is a five-week summer entrepreneurial training program for primarily Hispanic high school 10th and 11th graders where students learn comprehensive skills that will enable them to become productive self-sufficient citizens whether they elect to purse postsecondary education or some other gainful endeavor."
Tickets for both contests can be purchased by clicking here.
The 2018 IronPigs baseball season is presented by Capital BlueCross.
