Darick Hall had tied the game in the top of the 9th with his 20th home run of the season

(Syracuse, NY) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-33) lost on Tuesday evening to the Syracuse Mets (29-43) on a walk-off RBI single by Nick Meyer against Nick Duron (2-3) in the bottom of the ninth inning. Deven Marrero scored the game-winning run.

The Mets took a 1-0 lead against Cristopher Sanchez in the bottom of the second inning as Patrick Mazeika hit an RBI single that scored Travis Blankenhorn. It was the only run Sanchez allowed through three innings pitched. The ‘Pigs tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning as Rafael Marchan hit an RBI single against Nate Fisher that scored Daniel Robertson.

Mazeika homered against Joe Gatto in the bottom of the fourth inning to give Syracuse a 2-1 lead. The home run was Mazeika’s first of the season. Fisher left the game after five innings pitched and allowed the one run while striking out three batters and giving up seven hits. Lehigh Valley tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth inning as Robertson hit an RBI single against Yoan Lopez that scored Will Toffey.

Jorge Bonifacio hit a go-ahead RBI single against Bryce Montes de Oca in the top of the seventh inning that scored Donny Sands. Meyer gave Syracuse a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning against Ofreidy Gomez. Marrero and Khalil Lee scored on the play. Darick Hall tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the ninth inning against R.J. Alvarez (3-3). The home run was Hall’s 20th of the season.

Jace Fry made his IronPigs debut pitching in relief. He pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings and struck out three batters. Jakob Hernandez extended his scoreless inning streak to 10 1/3 innings pitched. He gave up just one hit and issued one walk while striking out two batters in 1 2/3 innings pitched.

The IronPigs and Mets will continue their series on Wednesday evening at NBT Bank Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
