Lehigh Valley was 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position

(Allentown, PA) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (35-30) lost to the Buffalo Bisons (37-37) 3-2 on Saturday evening. The ‘Pigs were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and held to just six hits in the game.

Jake Newberry pitched two scoreless innings in a spot start for Lehigh Valley. He issued two walks and two strikeouts while giving up just one hit. Buffalo took a 1-0 lead against the ‘Pigs in the top of the third inning as Zack Collins hit a sacrifice fly against Joe Gatto that scored Nathan Lukes.

Scott Kingery gave Lehigh Valley a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as he hit a two-run single against Gabriel Ponce that scored Darick Hall and Will Toffey. Cullen Large hit an RBI single against Aaron Barrett in the top of the fifth inning that tied the game at 2-2.

Buffalo jumped ahead 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning as Chavez Young scored on a throwing error by Rafael Marchan. Francisco Morales (1-3) took the loss for Lehigh Valley.

Jake Elliott (1-0) earned the win for Buffalo. Shaun Anderson earned the save as he pitched three scoreless innings in relief while striking out five batters.

The IronPigs and Bisons wrap up their series on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
