The Lehigh Valley IronPigs were shut out Thursday by the Rochester Red Wings 2-0. The loss is the second straight for the Pigs as they split the four-game series with Rochester. Even with the loss, the IronPigs still hold on to sole possession of first place in the International League North Division.

Lehigh Valley's Ben Lively (1-1) and Stephen Gonsalves (4-1) traded scoreless innings for over half the game, but Rochester struck first in the fifth inning. A pair of doubles from the Red Wings scored Nick Gordon for the game's first run, and a two-out single from Brock Stassi scored another.
The IronPigs threatened in the fifth against Gonsalves with a Dean Anna single and a pair of walks, but Trevor Plouffe stranded the three runners when he struck out swinging to end the frame. The Rochester bullpen took it in the sixth inning to finish the shutout.
Lehigh Valley left 12 runners on base, a season high.

The IronPigs will play again tomorrow in Rhode Island when they start a five-game series with the Pawtucket Red Sox. Cole Irvin will take the mound for Lehigh Valley, with first pitch coming at 7:05 p.m. The Pigs will return to Coca-Cola Park on Tuesday, May 29th when they welcome the Charlotte Knights. That Tuesday will be Military Appreciation Night with a military-style cap giveaway presented by Nacci Printing.
