(Trenton, NJ) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (27-38) and Buffalo Bisons (38-25) each won a game on Sunday afternoon at Trenton Thunder Ballpark. The IronPigs won game one 12-2 while Buffalo won game two 4-0.

Game 1

A game that took two days due a suspension (rain), the IronPigs were able to put together one of their best offensive performances of the season. They recorded 15 hits and scored 12 runs.

Lehigh Valley led 7-1 after three innings of play on Saturday evening before the game was called due to rain. Spencer Howard allowed just one run through three innings and Mickey Moniak was 2-for-2 with four RBI (single, three-run home run). Jake Elmore hit a three-run double in the top of the third inning.

The game resumed play in the top of the fourth inning with Dalton Guthrie on second base. The Pigs got a run in the inning when Ryan Cordell walked with the bases loaded to score Guthrie. Matt Vierling hit his first AAA home run against T.J. Zeuch in the top of the sixth inning to give Lehigh Valley a 9-1 lead. The Pigs added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 12-2 lead.

David Paulino (2-2) earned the win while Casey Lawrence (2-2) took the loss for Buffalo. Sam Coonrod made a Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Appearance, pitching a scoreless inning.

Game 2

The IronPigs were held to just four hits by Buffalo’s pitching, which started with two shutout innings by Jeremy Beasley. Patrick Murphy (1-1) followed up with two scoreless innings of his own. Kevin Smith and Tyler White each hit a two-run to give the Bisons a 4-0 lead. Tyler Alexander (1-2) allowed all four runs over three innings.

Jeff Singer, Cam Bedrosian, and Brady Lail each pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Moniak extended his hitting streak to 10 games in the top of the first inning. Guthrie extended his hitting streak to seven games with a single in the top of the fourth inning.

The IronPigs return to action on Tuesday, July 20 at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
