Step Up To the Plate Application Process Starts Now

Two Local Restaurants will be recipients of the proceeds

Allentown, Pennsylvania (27 April 2021) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are proud to announce the funds raised from the “Step Up To the Plate” t-shirts sold to support Lehigh Valley restaurants impacted financially by the Covid-19 pandemic. Grants of $1,150 will be distributed to two local restaurants who have experienced financial burdens throughout this last year. Funds are to be applied in any way they see fit to continue daily operations. Applications are now being accepted to receive proceeds from the funds raised.

“We asked the Lehigh Valley to “Step Up to the Plate” and they delivered once again,” said IronPigs President and General Manager Kurt Landes. “We are thankful to the entire Lehigh Valley for their tremendous support in coming together to help raise money for local restaurants. Covid-19 impacted the restaurant community in a large way and these funds will help restaurants with any financial burdens they may be experiencing during this time.”

Restaurants will be able to fill out an application when they visit ironpigsbaseball.com or by clicking here. Rules of eligibility are:

· Restaurant must occupy a space physically located in the Lehigh Valley.

· Be operating at the time of application or have operated in the last 90 days and intends to be operating again within 90 days.

Restaurants will be able to explain in the application the financial burdens that took place for them throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Restaurants have until Monday, May 10 to apply before the process is closed. Two restaurants will then be selected and will be recognized during an IronPigs home game the week of May 25.
