The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will host "Strike Out Cancer Night," presented by Air Products, on Wednesday, August 15.

Throughout the evening, the Pigs will honor the Lehigh Valley cancer community. We will celebrate cancer support personnel, honor those who have defeated, or are fighting the disease while remembering the loved ones we have lost. Guests will have the opportunity to contribute to great causes while learning about what's being done to battle the disease and support those whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
One of the evening's highlights will come in the middle of the fifth inning when all of Coca-Cola Park's guests will stand united in the quest to strike out cancer. Placards will be available throughout the ballpark for guests to hold up during the powerful moment. Each placard reads "Strike out cancer for …" with a space for guests to fill in the names of people they know whose lives have been impacted.
Nine local organizations -- Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, Angel 34 Foundation, Life Always Facing Forward, Julia's Grace Foundation, Cancer Support Community, Dream Come True, Boutique at the Rink, Women's 5K Classic and the American Cancer Society - are scheduled to participate in the event.
For each ticket purchased through this link, a $2 donation will be made to these organizations.
If you can't make it to the game, but would like to contribute, the IronPigs will host a 24-hour Text 2 Give campaign starting at 9 a.m. on August 15. Text "GIVE" to 610-839-8495 to donate.
During the contest, the Pigs will host a raffle for items including a Myrtle Beach vacation for four, a 60-minute oncology massage, Phillies Diamond Club tickets and more. Proceeds from these raffles, as well as that evening's 50/50 drawing, will be donated to the non-profit organizations participating in Strike Out Cancer Night.
If the 50/50 total exceeds $5,000, a collection of IronPigs front office staffers will shave their heads in support. In total, the IronPigs hope to raise well over $10,000 in support of defeating cancer.
Gates will open at 5:45 p.m. ahead of the 7:05 p.m. contest against the Durham Bulls.
