Lookouts Clinch Second Half With 11-2 Win
The Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Montgomery Biscuits 11-2 on Thursday night. The Lookouts returned home on Thursday for a five game home series against the Montgomery Biscuits. The series between the Lookouts and the Biscuits will be the final series of the regular season for both teams.
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga struck first when they scored one run in the bottom of the second inning on a Max Murphy ground out. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Montgomery responded by scoring two runs in the top of the third inning. Jake Cronenworth and Joe McCarty produced the RBIs for <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Montgomery in the top of the third to give the Biscuits a 2-1 lead.
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Andy Wilkins. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning when Edgar Corcino knocked a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Alex Perez to score from third base.
The Lookouts bats came to life in the bottom of the seventh inning as they exploded for five runs, to take an 8-2 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Lookouts earned their first three runs of the inning when Nick Gordon smacked a three-run homer over the left field wall, his ninth of the season. Three batters later, T.J. White added a two-run homer, a deep fly ball off of the left field foul pole.
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga's first run of the inning came courtesy of a bases loaded walk by Brian Navarreto, which allowed Max Murphy to score. Corcino rounded out scoring with a RBI single to center field, making the score 11-2 in favor of the Lookouts.
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga starting pitcher, Zack Littell (5-0, 2.81) provided the Lookouts with a quality start and earned his fifth win of the season in the process. On the night, Littell allowed just two hits, two runs, one earned run, issued three walks and struck out four. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Montgomery starter, Edwin Fierro (6-4, 3.11) suffered his fourth loss of the season. <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga reliever, Anthony McIver who was recently promoted from Advanced-A Fort Myers collected his first hold of the season as a Lookout.  
<st1:city w:st="on">Chattanooga (87-49) and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Montgomery (76-60) will face one another again on Friday, August 31^st at AT&T Field in game two of the five game series. The first pitch between the Lookouts and the Biscuits is set for 7:15 p.m. Friday night's game will feature Mega Fireworks Friday. The Mega Fireworks show will take place at AT&T Field following the conclusion of Friday night's game.
