Loons Announce 2013 Promotional Schedule

Michigan Legends Series, 14 Fireworks Loontaculars highlight entertainment lineup
February 28, 2013

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Loons are excited to present their 2013 promotional schedule, packed with a strong variety of family friendly entertainment, including theme nights, giveaways and national entertainers. Many fan favorites will be returning, but the schedule also features some new, exciting twists and turns.

The season begins with the Opening Day Celebration, presented by Consumers Energy, which features a parade on Main

Street. The Loons will also be adding several exciting national entertainers that will perform in the parade and at Dow Diamond as part of the Opening Day Celebration. The Opening Day entertainment lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.

"With the most Fireworks Loontaculars that we have ever offered, new promotions like Flat Screen Friday and new jaw dropping entertainment acts like Flippenout, there is certainly a premium on fun and value for the whole family," said Chris Mundhenk, Loons Vice President of Marketing & Entertainment. "We are excited to usher in the seventh season of Loons baseball and look forward to making even more memories with the greatest fans in baseball."

The promotional schedule has six giveaway nights set for the season, highlighted by the Flat Screen Friday Giveaway on May 31 when the Loons will give away nine 43-inch flat-screen televisions. Other giveaways include two stadium giveaways as a part of the Michigan Legends Series, presented by MidMichigan Health, a Loons Magnet Schedule Giveaway on Opening Day, a Loons Schedule Poster Giveaway (April 5), a Team Photo Giveaway (June 11) and a Hat Giveaway Night (August 11).

The Michigan Legends Series, presented by MidMichigan Health, features four in-person appearances by Michigan sports luminaries and two stadium replica giveaways. The series, a fresh spin on the Loons successful Red Wings Legends Series, will include six Loons home games. As part of the Michigan Legends Series, four Michigan sports greats are scheduled to appear at Dow Diamond and meet with Loons fans, including Steve Garvey, Ken Morrow, Greg Kelser and Jud Heathcote. Fans can purchase the Michigan Legends Series ticket package for just $54 by calling the Loons ticket office at 989-837-BALL.

Another new feature on this year's schedule will be Social Media Mondays. Due to the success of last season's Social Media Night, the Loons will now have an event during every Monday home game that will allow fans to directly interact with the Loons through multiple social media platforms. Fans not currently engaging with the Loons via social media can "like" the team on Facebook or "follow" the team (@greatlakesloons) on Twitter.

There will be 14 nights featuring the widely popular Fireworks Loontaculars, powered by Dow Corning. The first Fireworks Loontacular is Saturday, May 25. With an emphasis on offering value, Chemical Bank $1 Family Feast Nights will take place on each Thursday home game. On these 11 nights, fans can purchase hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and 16 oz. Coke products for just $1 each.

Farm Bureau Insurance will again be the presenting sponsor of three Sunday Pregame Youth Baseball Clinics (June 2, June 9 and June 23), complete with baseball instruction from Loons players. Each child attending the clinic will receive a free baseball, courtesy of Farm Bureau Insurance. Farm Bureau Insurance also returns as the presenting sponsor of Kids Run the Bases, which will follow every Sunday home game.

Every Tuesday home game will be a Dodgers Route of Champions Night. This Dodger-themed promotional series will highlight former Loons players and the storied history of the Dodgers organization through in-game content, on-field contests and more.

Several national entertainment acts will appear at the ballpark throughout the season. Making single-game appearances will be

Iron Man and Thor (May 4), the Zooperstars! (June 23), the Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team (July 27), Flippenout (Aug. 2), Reggy! the Purple Party Dude (Aug. 18) and BirdZerk! (Aug. 22).
