SERIES AND TRIP ON THE LINE: The Bats will try to win not only their three-game series against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Sunday afternoon, but also the seven-game road trip which saw them split a four-game set against the Pawtucket Red Sox. Louisville will go for its first road series win since taking 2 of 3 against Durham from May 28-30, and its first winning road trip since going 4-3 against Toledo and Indianapolis from April 29-May 5.
AGAINST SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE: In their first meeting of 2019, the Bats will try to win their first series against the top farm club of the New York Yankees since taking 2 of 3 against them from May 24-26, 2016 at PNC Field. In that series, LOU won the opener 5-3, lost the middle game 7-1, before taking the series with a 5-0 victory.
GAME #100: Louisville plays its 100th game of the season Sunday, coming into play with a 38-61 record. In 2018, LOU was 44-56 after its 100th game of the season on July 26 vs. Buffalo. The Bats were 40-60 in 2017 and 50-50 in 2016. With the Bats playing their 100th game on July 21, it's actually the earliest they've hit the 100-game mark since the 2014 season (July 19).
BLAKE CAN RAKE: Shortstop Blake Trahan hit his first home run of 2019 last night, last homering on August 18, 2018 at Charlotte in a 4-for-5 game. Since coming off the injured list (lumbar muscle strain) on July 11, Trahan is batting .250 (8-for-32) and has already tied the most RBI he's had in a month this season (7). In 2018, the shortstop enjoyed his best offensive month in July, batting .293 (27-for-92) with 17 runs, 7 doubles and 9 RBI, all monthly bests last season.
ALWAYS IN THE GAME: The Bats dropped Saturday's game by a 5-4 score after leading by a 2-1 score early on. In over half (32 of 61) of Louisville's losses this season, they have led at some point in the game. In a stretch from June 3-21, LOU actually led at some point in 12 consecutive losses.
STUCK AT THREE: Louisville's season-high winning streak this season remains at 3, done on 5 different occasions this season:
April 9-11: at Columbus (4/9-4/10), vs. Gwinnett (4/11)
May 4-7: at Indianapolis (5/4-5/5), vs. Syracuse (5/7)
May 29-31: at Durham (5/29-5/30), at Norfolk (5/31)
July 2-4: vs. Indianapolis (7/2-7/3), at Columbus (7/4)
July 17-19: at Pawtucket (7/17-7/18), at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (7/19)
BULLPEN SHUTOUT: Relievers Joe Mantiply and Alex Powers combined for 5.0 scoreless innings out of Louisville's bullpen on Saturday, keeping the Bats in the game. The 5.0 innings were the most scoreless frames thrown by LOU relievers in a game since May 29 in an 8-2 win at Durham, when Jackson Stephens, Ian Krol, Jimmy Herget and Powers combined for 6.0 scoreless innings in relief of Rob Wooten.
