O'Grady homers in 9-4 loss

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (35-58) were defeated by the Toledo Mud Hens (42-51) by a 9-4 score at Louisville Slugger Field. Brian O'Grady got his 25th home run of the season, going 2-for-4 in the game with a home run and a double.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (35-58) were defeated by the Toledo Mud Hens (42-51) by a 9-4 score at Louisville Slugger Field. Brian O'Grady got his 25th home run of the season, going 2-for-4 in the game with a home run and a double.

The Mud Hens took the lead first in the second inning when Dustin Peterson started the inning with a double and Mikie Mahtook grounded out and Pete Kozma hit a sac fly consecutively to score Peterson.                     
In the fourth inning, Ronny Rodríguez hit a two-run home run to extend Toledo's lead to 3-0. Louisville got their first run across in the fourth inning when O'Grady hit a solo homer.
The Mud Hens countered the run in the next inning when Jake Rogers doubled, Danny Woodrow followed with a double, and then Willi Castro hit a sac fly to score Rogers. Another run was added when Jacob Robson, who went 3-for-3 in the game, hit a double to score Woodrow, but then was thrown out at third, putting Toledo up 5-1.
In the eighth inning, Kozma hit a two-run homer to extend Toledo's lead to 7-1. The Bats scored a run in the bottom half of the eighth with Alex Blandino hitting a single and then Josh VanMeter and Christian Colón hitting back to back doubles to cut the Mud Hens' lead to 7-3.
The Mud Hens loaded the bases in the ninth inning and brought a couple more runs across when Mahtook has hit by the pitch and then Kozma hit a sac fly to put them up 9-3. The Bats made a last attempt at a win in the ninth when Narciso Crook doubled and Blake Trahan followed with a single to score him, but they came up short 9-4.
Tyler Alexander (4-9, 5.72) started for the Mud Hens getting the win in his 7.1 innings pitched, giving up three runs on six hits and striking out four. Vladimir Gutierrez (2-8, 7.15) started for the Bats getting the loss in his 5.0 innings pitched, giving up five runs on eight hits, walking one and striking out three.
Louisville heads on the road to face the Pawtucket Red Sox for a four-game series with first pitch set for Monday at 7:05 p.m. at McCoy Stadium. Right-hander Tejay Antone (2-2, 4.87) is set to pitch for the Bats and face off against left-hander Kyle Hart (4-2, 3.60) for the PawSox.
