Toledo, Ohio – The Louisville Bats forced extras by scoring a run on an error in the ninth inning and took a 2-1 lead in the 10th on an RBI double from Alfredo Rodriguez, but the Toledo Mud Hens (16-16) rallied to walk off the Bats on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the 10th Thursday night at Fifth Third Field.

With Louisville trailing by a run in the ninth, Bell and Okey drew back-to-back walks before TJ Friedl delivered a base hit to load the bases with one out. With a runner 90 feet away, Errol Robinson tied the game at one after beating out the play on a hard-hit ball that was bobbled by Toledo’s first baseman.

In extras, Rodriguez plated the automatic-runner on second base with a double to give the Bats a 2-1 lead.

Toledo responded with an RBI double from Aderlin Rodriguez, and after Louisville intentionally loaded the bases with two outs, Zack Short was hit by pitch to force in the winning, walkoff run in the Hens’ 3-2 victory.

Bats starter Reiver Sanmartin picked up his first Triple-A quality start after a dominant night in his third outing as a Bat. The left-hander pitched 7.0 innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts, five hits and one walk. He yielded his only run in the third inning when Short rolled an RBI groundout to third base that put the Mud Hens up early 1-0.

The impressive start was the second-longest outing of Reiver’s Minor League career, trailing his 8.0 shutout innings with Daytona in 2019.

The Bats and Mud Hens continue their series Friday with first pitch from inside Fifth Third Field scheduled for 7:05 ET. RHP Tony Santillan (1-3, 2.51) will get the ball in opposition of Toledo’s RHP Drew Hutchinson (2-2, 3.26).
