LOWELL, MA - After a one hour and forty-five minute delay the Spinners (27-24) finally got their series debut in against the Staten Island Yankees (26-23) and it was worth the wait.
Tyler Dearden showed no signs of rust with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. With the blast, Dearden control of the team-lead in home runs with his fourth of the season.
Starting pitcher Taylor Ahearn threw six solid innings on the mound. He threw five strikeouts, allowed a pair of two hits, and an earned run en route to his third win of the year.
Lane Milligan put the Spinners back on top in the fifth inning with his first solo blast of the season, giving the Spinners a 2-1 lead.
The Spinners added an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Devlin Granberg singled to lead off the inning. After Milligan moved him over to third with a single Granberg came in to score when Lane Milligan was caught stealing second to make it 3-1.
Andrew Politi picked up his fourth save of the season with a scoreless bottom of the ninth while striking out a pair.
With the 3-1 victory, the Spinners return to Staten Island on Thursday for a day-game with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
