Coming into a rubber match with division-rival Tri-City (31-33) the Spinners (29-34) looked to close out their road trip on a high note. Fortunately, Lowell's pitching staff came to play.
The Spinners jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Michael Osinski got the game started with a leadoff walk and was moved over to third when Yoan Aybar reached on a fielding error. A Garrett Benge single brought home Osinski to put Lowell on top 1-0. Marino Campana loaded with bases with a single of his own before Zach Sterry brought home Aybar on a fielder's choice.
Nick Duron turned in yet another solid start on the mound for Lowell. In five innings of work, he struck out two, gave up two hits, and blanked Tri-City on the scoreboard en route to his third win of the season. His ERA now sits at 3.47.
Durin O'Linger stood out in relief with a four-inning save. He struck out four, allowed three hits, and an earned run with no walks.
With the victory, the Spinners return to LeLacheur Park on Monday, August 28 to take on the Staten Island Yankees in a three-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
