Road trip ends in 1-0 pitchers duel

By Lowell Spinners | August 21, 2017 9:35 PM

A six-game road trip came to a disappointing end as the Spinners (26-31) were shutout for the second time in three days by the Staten Island Yankees (38-20).

Enmanuel De Jesus got the start for Lowell and allowed the game's only run in the bottom of the third. In 5.1 innings of work, he struck out four, walked one, and allowed seven hits while being tagged for his third loss of the season.

Devon Fisher came in to relieve De Jesus and finished the game with 2.2 perfect innings of work, striking out three in the process.

The offense mustered only three hits on the evening. Yomar Valentin was 1-for-1 with a single, walk, and his fifth stolen base of the season.

The Spinners now return home for the first time since the All-Star break with the Vermont Lake Monsters coming to town for a three-game set. First pitch at LeLacheur Park is set for 6:35 p.m.
