Thank You, Fans, for a Wonderful 2017 Season!

LANSING, Mich. - The 22nd season of Lugnuts baseball is now complete, and what a season it was! The year began with the introduction of our brand new field, new uniforms and new baseball caps, all part of our first ever Opening Day Block Party. A month later, we won our 1500th game in team history. And we wrapped up the year with the 11th Crosstown Showdown presented by Auto-Owners Insurance, improving our record against Michigan State to 9-2 in the series.

In between, you picked up Easter eggs that had been dropped from a helicopter, celebrated craft beer and the Oldsmobile legacy, feasted at a seafood boil and a taco throwdown, looked up at the solar eclipse through protective glasses, and cast a spell with over 10,000 fellow fans on Harry Potter Night. All told, thanks to you, Cooley Law School Stadium brought in an attendance of over 300,000 fans this season, including the largest Independence Day crowd below the Triple-A level: 11,449!

On the field, we'll remember 2017 for its individual performances: the bruises of Nick Sinay, hit by 38 pitches, most ever in the Midwest League's history; the excitement of Edward Olivares, hitting for the fifth cycle in team history on April 24th and the first cycle by a Lugnut since 2010; and the sensational talents of 19-year-old Bo Bichette, who won the Midwest League Most Valuable Player Award and Prospect of the Year Award, and 18-year-old Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., who caught the ceremonial first pitch on Father's Day from Vladimir Sr. and then went on to represent the Lugnuts with Bichette at both the Midwest League All-Star Game and the MLB All-Star Futures Game.
While our current Lugnuts were working hard to develop and advance, 11 former Lugnuts - Anthony Alford, Taylor Cole, Chase De Jong, A.J. Jimenez, Jairo Labourt, Casey Lawrence, Tim Mayza, Ian Parmley, Carlos Ramirez, Dwight Smith, Jr. and Richard Ureña - made their Major League Baseball debuts this season, tying for the most in one season in franchise history. A 2013 Lugnut, Toronto Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna, represented the Blue Jays in the MLB All-Star Game. And a member of the 2003 Nuts, the Dodgers' Rich Hill, pitched the most memorable game of the Major League season, hurling nine no-hit innings on August 23rd only to lose the game on a home run in the tenth.
It was a full season, filled with excitement, magic and LAFCU Fireworks. We thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for gearing up and Going Nuts with us all season long!
