Hillcats and Pelicans postponed on Friday

Game will be made up as part of a double-header on Saturday

Lynchburg, Va. - Tonight's game between the Lynchburg Hillcats and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a double-header on Saturday, June 23, with the first game beginning at 3 p.m.

Lynchburg, Va. - Tonight's game between the Lynchburg Hillcats and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans has been postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a double-header on Saturday, June 23, with the first game beginning at 3 p.m.

The second game of the twin bill will start no earlier than 6 p.m. Virginia Governor Ralph Northam will be at City Stadium to throw out the first pitch at 5:45 p.m.
The double-header games will be seven innings in length.
The Governor's appearance at Saturday's Hillcats game is part of the "Summer of Baseball," a series of visits to each of the Commonwealth's nine minor league team stadiums to tout the importance of baseball in Virginia communities. In addition to throwing out the first pitch, Governor Northam will present an official proclamation to the players and leadership of the Lynchburg-based baseball team, proclaiming June 23, 2018 as Lynchburg Hillcats Day in the Commonwealth of Virginia. 
Saturday will also be Sparking Saturday, featuring a post-game fireworks show, as well as Paint the Park Purple Night. The first 1,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Gastroenterology Associates.

The Lynchburg Hillcats are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The Hillcats are eight-time Carolina League Champions, having most recently won the Mills Cup Championship in 2017.
