Three solo home runs for Potomac provided the Nationals with enough offense to defeat the Hillcats, 3-1, at Pfitzner Stadium Saturday night.

Ian Sagdal, Rhett Wiseman and Austin Davidson all hit homers to power the Nationals offense. After Sagdal hit a solo homer to lead off the second inning, the Hillcats tied it in the fourth. Willi Castro reached on a wild pitch after striking out. He stole second base and scored on a two-out single by Yonathan Mendoza.
Lynchburg's best opportunity to take the lead occurred in the seventh when the Hillcats loaded the bases on three consecutive two-out walks. However, a strikeout ended the frame with the contest still tied, 1-all. Rhett Wiseman hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the seventh to give Potomac the lead, and an Austin Davidson homer to center gave the Nationals a 3-1 victory.
Shao-Ching Chiang (7-3) suffered the loss despite holding Potomac to two runs on six hits in seven innings. He lowered his ERA to 2.69 in the defeat. Tyler Skulina (1-0) tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the win in his Potomac debut. Gilberto Mendez notched his sixth save by pitching the ninth inning.
Lynchburg travels to Salem for a Sunday doubleheader at 1:05 p.m. Brock Hartson (2-2, 3.31) will start the first game for the Hillcats. Fans can listen to both games live at www.lynchburg-hillcats.com.
