Black awarded Southern League Woman of Excellence
Black nominated for 2016 Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year
PEARL, MS -- Mississippi Braves Director of Tickets and Communications Miranda Black is the recipient of the 2016 Southern League Woman of Excellence Award. As the league's winner, Black is also the Southern League's nominee for the 2016 MiLB Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year Award which is presented annually at the Baseball Winter Meetings.
In her current position, Black oversees all ticketing and media/public relations matters for the Double-A Braves. Black, who just completed her seventh season in baseball, joined the club as a sales/PR trainee for two seasons (2010-11) before accepting a full-time sales position at the conclusion of the 2011 season. Black held that roll while still handling media relations until the spring of 2013 when she was promoted to Media Relations Manager. She was named Director of Tickets and Communications prior to the start of the 2016 season.
"With so many talented females throughout our league, I am truly honored to receive the Southern League Woman of Excellence Award," Black said. "I am grateful for the recognition by colleagues throughout the Southern League and humbled to receive the league's nomination for Rawlings Woman Executive of the Year."
With the Mississippi Braves, Black is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Trustmark Park Box Office along with roster moves, recaps, press releases and newsletters. She oversees graphic design projects, fields incoming advertising requests, manages the M-Braves digital ad campaigns, fulfills media/photo requests and manages the Braves website and all social media outlets. Black coordinates the M-Braves annual school day games, and she also assists with executing national MiLB partnerships along with any technological issues that might arise.
"It's an honor to work for the Braves organization, and I can't thank my superiors and colleagues enough for the doors they've opened," she said. "I've learned and continue to learn so much about the business of baseball. I'm proud to play a part in bringing a great show in Braves baseball to the fans throughout Mississippi and Braves Country. This past season has been a great year for the Mississippi Braves and the Southern League, and I look forward to what's in store for 2017."
A 2011 honors graduate from The University of Southern Mississippi, Black earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration while working part-time for both Southern Miss Baseball and Media Relations. Originally from Ellisville, Black is also a graduate of Jones County Junior College and South Jones High School. She now resides in Brandon.
