FGL Concert Successful, Draws Record Crowd

Trustmark Park welcomed 14,179 people for the FGL show
June 3, 2014

PEARL, MS -- Florida Georgia Line's This Is How We Roll Summer Series Tour stopped at Trustmark Park Saturday, May 31 and drew a record crowd of 14,179. The sold out show featured special guests Nelly and Chris Lane and was the first major headline tour to stop at Trustmark Park in the ballpark's 10-year history.

"From the very moment we were informed that we made the short list for the FGL tour, we knew that this would be an incredible and exciting experience for the M-Braves, our sponsors, season ticket holders and all of Mississippi," said Steve DeSalvo, M-Braves General Manager.

The Mississippi Braves concluded a five-game homestand with a doubleheader Friday night before setting up for the concert. Immediately following the games vendor trucks were loaded onto the field along with barricades and other items to begin the overnight set-up process. Once on-field concessions were set, the stage was brought down to the field and carefully assembled to prevent damage to the center field area.

Set up continued throughout the night, into the morning and afternoon as a portable floor was laid to cover the outfield. The bands rolled in Saturday morning from Arkansas where they performed Friday night, and lines began to form at the gates shortly after lunch. With lines reaching all the way to Bass Pro Shops and down to Sam's Club, gates opened at 6:30 PM. Fans then rushed to grab their seats and/or find their places in the standing room only area on the field.

The show kicked off at 8:00 PM sharp with Chris Lane opening up. Grammy Award-winning Nelly took the stage shortly thereafter before handing the show over to Florida Georgia Line. FGL and Nelly closed out the show with the 6-time platinum "Cruise" remix version, the duo's record-breaking hit.

"Well, I have to say, when the smoke cleared and the dust settled, this show lived up to and exceeded ALL expectations," DeSalvo continued. "The promoters of this show, the production of this show, and the talent themselves, were all tremendous to work with, and the show itself with the lighting, video, effects, and pyrotechnics was nothing short of fabulous."

The historical event was a huge success for the Mississippi Braves, Trustmark Park and the surrounding Bloomfield Area as the venue was able to showcase even more of its multi-use abilities by bringing in such a large crowd and a huge, national headline show for Mississippians. Fans traveled to Pearl from across the state and surrounding states to officially put Trustmark Park on the map as another great concert venue in Mississippi.

"I am completely confident that the success of this show has put Trustmark Park on the map and has established Pearl, MS, Trustmark Park and the Mississippi Braves as the premier HOT spot for great entertainment and shows in Mississippi for many years to come," DeSalvo said. "We look forward to bringing many more events and shows to Trustmark Park in the months and years to come."
