La Stella Named Topps/MiLB Double-A All-Star

La Stella hit .343 in 81 games for the Mississippi Braves

PEARL, MS -- Second baseman Tommy La Stella was selected to the 2013 Topps/Minor League Baseball Double-A All-Star Team as announced Tuesday afternoon. La Stella hit .343 in 81 games for the Double-A Braves this season and was named Braves organizational Player of the Year for the Mississippi club in September.

                                                               

La Stella, 24, hit .550 in seven games for High-A Lynchburg before moving up to Double-A Mississippi on May 6. In his Double-A debut, La Stella went 3-for-6 with two doubles, a triple, two runs scored and five RBI. The New Jersey native also strung together a 23-game hitting streak (34-88, .386) that ran from July 5 to August 5, breaking Carl Loadenthal's 2007 record of 20 games. La Stella was selected by the Braves in the eighth round of the 2011 draft.
