Marauders Drop Fourth Straight 11-5
Fort Myers, Fla. - The Miracle (52-27, 7-5) reeled off 11 straight runs to top the Marauders (31-50, 5-8) 11-5 on Wednesday night at Hammond Stadium. Fort Myers tallied 21 hits, the most ever against the Marauders in a single game.
Bradenton opened the scoring in the top of the first. Elias Diaz doubled against Taylor Rogers (W, 7-2) and scored on Willy Garcia's two-out double. The Marauders stretched the lead to 3-0 in the third, using a sacrifice fly by Garcia and an RBI-double by Jose Osuna.
Orlando Castro started for the Marauders and left in line for the win. Castro allowed two runs in the fourth, but worked out of a bases loaded jam in the fifth to finish his night with a 3-2 lead. Castro walked one and struck out four.
The Miracle barraged the Bradenton bullpen for three runs in the sixth and six unearned runs in the seventh. Robby Rowland (L, 3-6) took the loss in his first relief appearance of the season.
Carlos Mesa smacked a two-RBI double in the eighth to complete the scoring. Kirk Singer went 2-for-3 in his season debut for the Marauders. Stetson Allie hit his fifth double of the season.
The teams are off on Thursday, but resume their series Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Adrian Sampson will start for the Marauders. The game will be broadcast online on www.BradentonMarauders.com.
